David Storrie – UK

The Back Story monthly interview features ADAPTOVATE employees from around the world.

Our team is the greatest asset we have, and it’s a privilege to share just a little bit more about who they are. This month we feature David Storrie, our Partner and office lead in the UK.

First up – how long have you worked with us?

I started in September 2022

Why did you join us? Were you in the industry previously, or looking for a new career direction?

I came from EY where I had progressed to Scotland Consulting leader and Partner and was looking for a new challenge to grow a scale up business.

How has your previous experience and career helped define where you are now? Would you have done things differently?

Ha , don’t really have any regrets. I have quite a wide range of experiences including working as a Microbiologist, product development, product manager, loads of commercial and sales roles and Transformation Programme Leader in Food, Products and Services businesses, Financial services before joining EY where I worked across all sectors, Global , Private and Public sectors.

Have always been 110% employed so would probably have liked to do more travel although through my work I have been to some amazing places.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Probably a day that stretches out in front of you where you can do whatever you want!

What is your greatest extravagance

Not a material person but my main indulgences would be Motorbike, Guitar and holidays.

Left to right, Ben Lyon and Amy Hoare from our UK team, Nate Nelson our MD in LA, with David Storrie.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Would love to be better at the guitar and also be able to paint!

What do you most value in your friends and in colleagues – and are they different things?

They would be the same things , authenticity, tolerance, empathy and humour- do what you say you are going to do and be straightforward in communication.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Tough one! Probably William Wallace – bit of a cliche but a Scottish Hero in the Wars of Independence.

What is your motto?

“Toes in” – Means dig in when it gets tough ( Hill and mountain climbing)

Finally – You’ve time travelled back to your 10- year old self – What advice would you give?

Be Bold
