Our high school client came to us with this challenge:

We are a girls school in Australia (Wenona High School) and we would like to nurture our students’ creativity, teamwork and problem-solving capabilities. These are key skills in their development as we want them to be compassionate and capable adults in a rapidly changing world. Can you help?

As part of our Pledge 1% partnership we delivered a Design Sprint in a day with the school students and staff.

It was enough to fill our cups up to get us to the end of the year! Students especially enjoyed working with real-world problems and sharing their ideas for solutions with their peers, teachers and the team from ADAPTOVATE. Key approaches from ADAPTOVATE helped:

  • Explore an agile mindset and ways of working to tackle complex, big problems in a structured way​
  • Run problem mapping, empathy and value proposition exercises leveraging Human-Centred Design techniques to narrow the problem and target audience​
  • Ideate rapidly using design sprint methods such as Crazy 8s and solution sketching in a time-boxed environment​
  • Assist students (and staff) to reach consensus in an inclusive and effective manner using tools such as post-its and dot voting​
  • Build prototype solutions at speed with the help of cartoonists and then pitch them to a judging panel
