Singapore public healthcare service is often recognized as one of the most efficient globally​. 

 

As one of the three healthcare system clusters in Singapore, the organization aims to continuously optimize its operations to deliver the best-in-class patient-centric clinical care​. 

 

To meet this goal, the organization wanted to explore Agile ways of working through a mix of high touch and light touch projects​. 

 

In eight weeks, the organization launched six teams from different functions (e.g. Contact Centre, PMO, procurement), all working in Agile to deliver their key outcomes.​ 


Context

  • Set up Agile teams – Identified team members for the various teams, conducted Agile fundamental training sessions, defined missions of teams, agreed on sprint cadence, established team norms, introduced Agile artefacts​ 

 

  • Onboarded and coached the teams – Worked closely with POs and teams to draft and refine the roadmap and work to be done, ran Agile ceremonies to drive key results, ensure that work is visualized and communicated clearly within the teams​ 



Key Activities

The Results:

  • Teams were able to showcase clear outcomes in the areas of procurement improvement, contact centre transformation and PMO within a short span of time (i.e. two sprints) ​ 

 

  • Procurement team was able to identify and prioritize key pain points as well as develop solutions to be tested and refined with the organization​ 

 

  • Contact centre team had mapped out the current workflows across four healthcare institutions with improvement opportunities identified​ 

 

  • PMO was able to increase transparency across the various functions through visual management of the work​ 

 

  • Supported by survey result indicating higher satisfaction working in Agile ways, better efficiency in delivering solutions, greater transparency and collaboration within the teams​
